Following HeinOnline’s recent domain migration, we recommend reviewing bookmarks, links, and institutional configurations to ensure uninterrupted access for users.
1. Use URLs Without “www”
When linking to HeinOnline websites, always use URLs without the “www” prefix.
✅ Correct: https://heinonline.com
❌ Incorrect: https://www.heinonline.com
2. New HeinOnline Links
There are two primary HeinOnline URLs that serve different purposes:
- HeinOnline Product Login: Access the HeinOnline research platform at https://access.heinonline.com/HOL/Welcome. Both /HOL/ and /Welcome must be included in the URL; otherwise, users will be redirected to the HeinOnline website. Depending on the user’s authentication status, this URL will display either the HeinOnline login page or the HeinOnline Welcome page.
- HeinOnline Website: Use https://heinonline.com/ for product information, training resources, news, support resources, and company updates.
3. Update Bookmarks and Documentation
Although redirects from previous HeinOnline domains continue to function, institutions are encouraged to update bookmarks, LibGuides, website links, instructional materials, and other documentation to reflect current URLs.
Keeping links up to date helps provide the most reliable access experience for users.
4. EZproxy Configuration
Libraries using EZproxy should review their HeinOnline configuration and update any references to the previous HeinOnline domain as needed. For the most current HeinOnline EZproxy stanza and configuration guidance, please refer to OCLC’s official documentation: https://help.oclc.org/Library_Management/EZproxy/Database_stanzas/HeinOnline
5. Review Web Filtering and Security Configurations
Institutions that utilize web filtering, security platforms, firewalls, or services such as Zscaler may need to review their configurations to ensure HeinOnline’s new domain is recognized.
If your institution relies on IP authentication and users are experiencing access or authentication issues, work with your IT team to verify that heinonline.com and related HeinOnline domains are included in any required allowlists or approved-domain configurations.
If users are accessing HeinOnline successfully, no action is required.
